Steps for INDIAN AGRICULTURE
I am not a very good student of economics ..but its a just a try , my views ..le me know how is it :
Indian economy, which is dependent on agricultural sector, is growing slowly. Indian agriculture is not responding in the way it should, once green revolution progressed agriculture but now either it is stable at or going down. I am not going into the problems of Indian agriculture as different economists are discussing it elaborately in recent times. In this paper, I will be dealing with steps, which can be taken by government of India to enhance the Indian Agriculture. These are my own view and not copied from anywhere.

I am not going into the problems of Indian agriculture as different economists are discussing it elaborately in recent times. In this paper, I will be dealing with steps, which can be taken by government of India to enhance the Indian Agriculture. These are my own view and not copied from anywhere.
Today,
the main issue regarding Indian Agriculture is of Land. Either there is
uneconomical distribution of land or land is barren. When I go to my village, I
find that there are lands which are barren and land on which agriculture cannot
be done. I feel that what the use of
those lands is, tomorrow a corporate with a bulk of green notes will come and
buy those lands from poor villagers and either built factory, storehouse or an
apartment, if that area will be transformed into urban area. More will be the
pollution, and most importantly, land will go waste.
I
have an idea for the use of those lands. I propose a scheme for this, which I
will name it as “PAID FARMING”.
What
actually I mean by Paid Farming is, first I divide lands in two categories.
1. Very
small amount of Land with the marginal farmers.
2. Barren
Lands.
I.
Now, in my view what govt. shall do is
buy those lands from poor farmers and make it plain then employs laborers and
farmers to plough and produce on those lands. They shall be given all the
inputs and salary i.e. fixed salary on monthly basis.
II.
Those lands, which are barren, make it
fertile by using compost and manures and again employ laborers and farmers and
pay them.
III.
Those farmers shall be given a target
for the production and they should be told that if they achieve the target they
would be given incentives.
IV.
From the production, for e.g. if suppose
400 KG of Paddy was grown they should be given 10-15 KG as normal , if they
achieve target then up to 20 KG.
V.
Incentive can be given in form of Loan
and House, Vehicles, TV Sets or the best one their Children admission in good
schools.
VI.
Government shall take all the
procurement and directly sell into the market with marginal profit so that
those who are looting consumers, intermediaries, corporate who are trying to
take over the market shall be punished in the open competition.
VII.
It will help the farmers more because
when they get Rice or Wheat at 2rs/KG or 3rs/KG, they do not participate in
Farming or labor willingly, which is making people lazy and Human Resource is
going into waste.
VIII. The
Disguised Unemployment in Indian Agriculture will be minimized.
IX.
Those who will run the shops of govt.
will be unemployed people, so ultimately it will also help to reduce
unemployment and he should paid from the sale income.
X.
Lands, which are being waste, are going
come into use and a proper use.
XI.
For irrigation purposes, a WELL, should
be dig in the corner and the traditional water harvesting system should be
revamped.
Other
Steps can be:
1. Gober
Gas Plants should be planned and built in ever panchayat not only one but also
more than 3-4 plants. This will help in to gas Production and dependence on LPG
will be reduced and money, which is being waste in subsidy of LPG, will be used
here then the Manure, which will come out from that plant, will be pure and
more and more organic farming will be promoted and done, which ultimately help
the people of this country.
2. If
there will be Gober Gas Plants then People will also keep cattle’s and and
problem of Cow slaughter will be resolved. The villagers will give Gober for
those plants only and they should be given some amount of Manure or gas (acc.
To their Choice) in return and then it should be sold out in market by govt.
3. The
Government of India waste so much of money on defense it is because India has
to buy equipments from other countries. Instead of buying Govt. should invest
in Research and in same way Research for agricultural Field also. Agricultural
Universities should be open in different cities. I remember my grandfather told one incident
that when Dr. Rajendra Prsad was asked why people in Bihar do not join
willingly into agriculture then his answer was that there is mentality i.e.
“LOGWA KA KAHI” means what people will say if I will do agriculture so
agricultural universities will be opened is cities then young student will learn and research ,
and then they will interact and finally they will enter into agriculture , so
the better minds will be in agriculture then now.
our money is being wasted in buying equipment for defense from other countries, in my view rather than investing money in buying , govt. shud invest in research , so money will also be saved , we can invest here , and the production u are talking about , i know there is production but my focus was on land wastage ..and by this scheme the procurement will be directly in govt. hand , they will have more responsibility
ReplyDeleteideas are really nice. n surely it will yield positive results....but..its...really a diffult task 2 implement...so i will suggest u to try empasize on the ways of implementing these. so MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP.
ReplyDeleteall the best...@ranesh sir...
Exhaustive read, brilliant ideas. Good work! (Y)
ReplyDeleteIdeas seem feasible, however the question still stands as to from where the Govt of India will procure the money to pay these people's salaries.
ReplyDeleteIndia's expenditure on foreign defence deals cannot be viewed as a wastage and the money spent on them cannot be diverted as India's armed forces are in need of modernizing their equipment ASAP to face the growing threats of terrorism and increasingly hostile neighbouring countries, China in particular. Indigenous research and development of defense equipment is a slow affair and DRDO has been doing an excellent job with the development of Agni-V, the INSAS small arms system, Modern Sub-Machine carbine, Arjun MBT MkI/MkII etc. However, the more prominent products have required collaboration with other nations, such as the BrahMos missile, developed jointly with Russia, is the world's fastest cruise missile currently in operation. A collaboration of this sort is achieved through good defence ties, arms deals with other countries play no small part in this.
The deal with France for 126 Rafale multirole fighters along with the existing 157 Su-30 MKI air superiority fighters will hopefully make our airspace rock solid by 2020-2025 against foreign aggressors. Furthermore, India is engaged in join research with Russia for the development of a 5th generation Stealth air superiority fighter dubbed the FGFA, which in turn is a development on the existing Russian technology used in the T-50, the prototype of the Russian fighter, the PAK-FA. The said fighters are being developed as an answer to the US Marine Corps' and US Navy's F-35 Lightning IIs, and to an extent to an answer to the US Air Force's F/A-22 Raptor, but will probably be more than enough to counter the under development J-20 of China's PLA Air Force.
I am sorry for the long post but it must be understood that arms deals are being made to upgrade the outdated equipment of the Armed Forces, and replacing all of them with indigenous equipment would take a lot of time and exclusively using equipment that is not yet battle proven is a gamble. Note that i use the word 'all' as a portion of the equipment is being equipped with Indian technology. (Arjun MBT Mk I tanks, the Tank EX project which seeks to merge the T-72 chassis with the rifled 120mm gun used on the Arjun MBT, MSMC sub-machine gun).
my dear friend do u if we need the money to buy equipment how actually it helped to combat Terrorism..it is still prevalent ...and we need to invest in research more and more , and if u ask me then cut tax holidays and when govt. will come into open market it will generate income ..salary can be paid from there
ReplyDeleteit is a good piece of wrk..: but there are acres of land which is barren, govt. is not in position to provide millions of rupees for these lands. do u know one thing that today's economy is driven by mostly by private body bcz more than 45 % share is invested by them.
ReplyDeletebut still ur ideas is good..
congrat 4r ur wrk..:)
There is a defense budget existant, and my point is simply that the funds from that budget cannot be diverted to something else, that would just be a compromise on the safety of our own citizens =). And as for research, i already said its being conducted by DRDO, but it takes a long while, development, testing, improvement, adjustments. If a nation requires equipment as soon as possible, it will buy equipment which has already gone testing, has been deployed in actual combat etc.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good work with great ideas =) congrats.
