corruption, bribery & need of reforming education

Today I am going to talk about many things. We think, rather I say we know that our country is corrupt. The people of this country are corrupt. We faced the two revolutions of post independence (i.e. “J.P. Movement” & “Hazare Movement”) against corruption. We use to say that country is corrupt and the officers and administrators are corrupt but before blaming someone we must know what is the meaning of corrupt, what does corruption means? The oxford dictionary says that corruption means the dishonest and illegal behavior or change of moral standards to immoral. Bribery is also a part of corruption which means to do a favor to someone in return of money but “bribery” and “corruption” is not same. We use these two words interchangeably which is wrong. To clarify it more I would like to use the word ‘भ्रष्टाचार’, this means any Aachar or behavior which is not accepted by the society. If law or rules says that spitting on road is wrong and if someone does then he is also corrupt.

We understood what corruption means. Now what should be the solution to control this corruption, here I am not saying that there should be corruption less society because no society can be perfect and if there is or will be then it will be a utopian state which is not possible , which is unattainable. But we see many legislations came up to control this but there is no effect rather it is growing day by day now there is a demand of “LOKPAL”. The whole of Hazare movement was revolving around this lokpal. Today it is considered to be the best possible way to control corruption.

Now I will tallk about this “GREAT LOKPAL”-

Lokpal ; the word is made from the two Sanskrit words ‘LOK + PAL’’. Lok means people/public and Pal means protector. So combined Lokpal means protector of public and I think so that govt. is the protector of people so by introducing lokpal then we are going to introduce a parallel authority to govt. which will be a blunder in the human history.

Now come to its present scenario, Lokpal what I think is not to control corruption rather to control bribery. For the first time the concept of lokpal came in 1960s and it was based on the recommendations Santhanam Committee for Prevention of Corruption in 1966. Now we must ponder over the question that how this lokpal will work , by thinking and reading the different drafts of lokpal we get to know that it will take complain against anyone and it will also have the power as of civil court that to summon anybody before the lokpal committee. For the 8 times the lokpal bill was introduced in our parliament and every time it was strucked down; there might be different reasons. Here I would like to tell you a story before going further , once there was man who was eager to join Indian Air force nad he gave the exam and he passed but failed in interview then he again tried , he again failed in interview , now it  was going to be his last chance but unfortunately he again failed now he was frustrated and he decided to suicide and he reached near to bank of river ganga to suicide , there a sage came and asked what happened he told his story and then that sage said him , if you are failing in something again n again then it means that govt. has decided something else about you. He was satisfied and he returned to his and then he got selected to DRDO and later he became Persident of our country and he was none other than Dr. APJ Abdul kalam. Now the question is why I told this story , it is because if lokpal is failing to passed for 8 times then the god has decided something else and not this.

The other points are like (those who have heard the debate of lokpal in lokshabha recently) who are going to be the member of this lokpal , the people and if corrupt people can become PM then corrupt people will also be the member of lokpal. They are not going to be fall down from heaven so that they will be the most honest persons on earth. We use a word “JUGADD”. So if lokpal will be strict people will find a “JUGADD” because this “JUGADDU DESH”. Who gives money, we are so thirsty that to be done our work without any hurdles we bribes people and the insect of bribing will not be solved by this lokpal, and we have to find another way. Now what it could be?

When we think this context we try to understand how this insect of corruption will be deleted from the account of our brain. By the use of force you can shut his mouth but it will move his hands whenever he will get a chance. We have to attack to attack on its routes and the best possible way is “EDUCATION”.

Now point is, does we are not getting EDUCATION today but still we are able to solve it. So what to do? We have to change the Education Policy of Maculay of 1839. He gave a education system where we will forget the feeling of nationality and our own identity and if we will forget our own identity & nationality then we will never ever think which we will affect our country, we will become individualistic , which we are becoming , we are mental slaves of west which was there motive. Here I would like to insert the quote of macualy:

"I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native self-culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."

Why we are not introducing spirituality in our education system which is the backbone of our culture (do not dare to equate religion& spirituality). Until unless we will do so, we are not going to curb out this insect of corruption. We feel ashamed in calling our country as Bharat and a bloody excuse is that is will affect secularism, it will not, think about this. We are not implementing education which is in favor of our nation, we are not producing nation builders. we have to see to it, think over it and change this education system, youth should came with this aim not with complaining about corruption, every citizen is corrupt , everyone is selfish, and again I am of view that education and educational institutes and teachers can change it because teacher are the one in whose lap both creation and destruction sleeps. Teacher once again (after chankya) must take this responsibility of saving this nation
